A place worth remembering

Still photographs become films

According to the museum, the Photography Museum in Anjohy has four projection rooms for thematic films drawn from its database of still photographs. Its exhibition hall and garden host temporary contemporary-photography exhibitions.[1]

Historic routes of the upper town

Madagascar’s 2016 tentative-list submission to UNESCO lists paved or stone-surfaced roads and the paths of water carriers among the upper town’s historic routes. It also names the Couloir Rasalama among the district’s paths, streets and stairways.[2]

Watercress below the upper-town palaces

The same submission records watercress beds reaching the foot of the upper-town palaces, some fed by spring water. It calls this urban farming an ancestral practice that has withstood the city’s expansion.[2]
