Water in a relief map

Francisco Vela’s Relief Map dates to 1905. Guatemala City Tourism describes an original hydraulic system for circulating water through the map’s represented rivers and lakes.[1][2]

A sculptural theatre

The Teatro Nacional Miguel Ángel Asturias was designed by Efraín Recinos and opened in 1978. Guatemala City Tourism says its form evokes volcano shapes, the feathered serpent Quetzalcóatl and Maya stelae.[1]

Museo Popol Vuh

Museo Popol Vuh is on the Universidad Francisco Marroquín campus in Guatemala City’s Zone 10. The museum describes its collection as pre-Hispanic and colonial art.[3]
